Keto meat pie (faux Shepherd’s/ Cottage pie)
I was inspired to make this low carb beauty by the famous Irish dish called Shepherd’s pie and the famous English dish called Cottage pie.

Ingredients:
For the cauliflower mash:
900 grams cauliflower florets (I used the frozen pack)
1 tsp butter
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
For the meat: • 500 grams minced beef (or lamb, pork) • 1 small onion, finely diced • 2 tbsp olive oil • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 tsp garlic powder • 1/4 tsp chilly powder • 1/4 tsp pepper • 1 tsp basil • 1 tbsp tomato paste mixed with 2 tbsp water • butter to grease the pan For the topping: • 1/2 cup grated cheese • crushed chilly peppers (optional) You’ll also need: • a pot to cook the cauliflower florets • a frying pan to prepare the meat • a baking dish
Preparation: • cook the cauliflower in slightly salted water • in a frying pan, heat 2 tbsp olive oil and add the diced onions • saute the onions on medium and then add the minced meat, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 chilli powder, 1/4 pepper, 1 tsp basil and cook for a few minutes until the meat is browned on all sides
• add 1 tbsp tomato paste mixed with 2 tbsp water and cook until everything is combined (few minutes) • grease your baking dish and fill the bottom with the prepared meat • sprinkle the meat with crushed chilly and leave it to rest until you’re finished with the cauliflower • drain the cooked cauliflower (drain it really good) and use your hand mixer to puree it with 1 tsp butter, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper (taste to see if you need more salt) • put the prepared cauliflower puree over the meat, top it with grated cheese and optionally sprinkle with some crushed chilly • bake on 180°c for around 10-15 minutes (until golden brown)
